When I was pregnant with my son, I gained 75 pounds. I was at my very heaviest, and I felt terrible. But… I was pregnant. So I gave myself grace and I figured that I’d lose it once I had him.Guess what… I didn’t.And that’s okay. I don’t beat myself up about it or anything. But I simply don’t feel good. I’m lethargic. I tire out quickly. I feel sluggish and I suffer from a constant case of brain fog.I tried watching what I ate. I dabbled in fad diets a bit. But nothing felt sustainable to me. I would give it my all for a few weeks and then feel exhausted with little to show for it.So when I heard about this new approach, I figured it was worth a shot.

I was able to get my hands on an advanced copy of Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion. I love that it questions a lot of dieting norms. In fact, the first chapter is all about busting myths surrounding breakfast. His book is based on surprising science, which the nerd in me really loved reading. His method is supposed to increase fat burning while still allowing you to eat your favorite foods. Sign me up!Here is some more information on the science behind Marion’s diet.
I also like that there are three phases to this plan:
- The acceleration phase
- The main phase
- The lifestyle phase
The Always Eat After 7 PM plan consists of: The 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results, The Main Phase where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat and when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals, The Lifestyle Phase to keep the weight off for goodThis is a diet that is meant to be followed for the long haul. It isn’t a fad that you use to lose a few pounds and then forget about. I really love that.Marion also stresses the importance of being able to eat a variety of foods. I haven’t finished the book yet, but he encourages variety and indulging your cravings. He also supports having a cheat day – which, come on, I can’t live without my sweets so this is great news!
“Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience.”
I absolutely am not the type of person that wants to feel limited in my choices. Nor do I want to constantly be calculating calories or points or the like. I want to be able to eat on my own terms, you know?I’m really excited to get started with this lifestyle change, and I’m even more excited to bring you along on the journey! If you’d like to join me, Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion is now available to purchase.
