My husband and I are eager to become first time homeowners. It’s a huge goal of ours. We would love to have a place to settle down and plant some roots. Of course, the biggest issue is money.
Beyond the cost of the actual home itself, there are so many hidden fees to think about. Some of which are just ridiculous. Realtors charge so much! Money that could be spent on much better things (home decor, a savings account, diapers!) ends up going to the realtor.
But not anymore. Now, there’s Homie. What is Homie, and why should you care? I’m so glad you asked!

Disclosure: This post is in partnership with Homie, but all opinions are my own.
What Is Homie?
Homie is the new way to buy and sell homes. Founded in 2015, the creators of Homie built a technology company that streamlines real estate transactions. Their mission? Save customers thousands in fees and commissions. Now that is something I can get behind.
With Homie, you get more control over the entire process, but you still get all the help you need. When you buy and sell with Homie, you get a whole team of licensed agents, attorneys and experts. You’re never alone, but you pay a fraction of the price you would normally pay.
In fact, Homie saves their customers an average of $10,000! What would you do with $10k? Whew.

How Does Homie Save Me Money?
Homie is a home buying and selling platform. They take the place of a traditional realtor and can even help with paperwork, drafting the perfect offer, and more.
Essentially, you get a team of real experts for way less than you’d normally pay. A quick Google search will turn up endless, raving reviews of Homie. I’ve been blown away by the feedback I’ve read.
Unlike a traditional realtor, Homie takes a flat fee. No more 6%!
To sell with Homie, you pay $199 to set up and $1,299 at closing. That’s $1,498 total. That’s totally unheard of!
If you’re buying with Homie, they have even more to offer! You can get refunded up to $5,000 through the Homie Buyer Refund.
Basically, if you’d like to buy a home not listed with Homie, those sellers have agreed to pay a buyer agent commission. Usually, it’s around 3% of the price of the home. With Homie on your side, they collect that money and refund you (the buyer) up to $5,000 back! That money can help with closing costs or loans. Wahoo!
They also have a program called Homie-2-Homie. When you sell your home, you can review offers and might choose to pick a fellow Homie user in order to save yourself some money. When you sell to a Homie user, you don’t pay that full buyer agent commission, which might make that offer more appealing. So it pays to both buy and sell with Homie.
What Kind of Homes Can I Find on Homie?
Homie is rapidly expanding, but as of right now, they are only in Utah and Arizona. They do have an email list on their site that you can get on for when they come to your state!
They have a huge variety of beautiful houses on their site. I love browsing their homes, and they have options in every budget.
