By making a few simple tweaks, your entire life can change. All it takes is the desire to change and a whole lot of consistency.
I’ve finished reading a book all about changing our perceptions on dieting and making these changes that will lead to a lifetime of health. It’s honestly a blessing to be able to share such a game changer with you!

I’ve had the chance to finish reading Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion. If you missed my other posts, you can read my intro, author interview, and some updates at those links.
The way this diet works, you spend two weeks in the acceleration phase. That’s where your calories and carbs are most restricted. To give you an idea, your macros will be 15% carbs, 50% protein, and 35% fat.
The Main Phase is where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat and when, in order to achieve your weight-loss goals. Now that you’ve gotten over the acceleration phase, your macros are even more lenient. You get 40% carbs, 40% protein, and 20% fat. You can stay here until you’ve reached your weight loss goals. Then, you move on to the lifestyle phase.
The Lifestyle Phase is meant to keep the weight off for good. Here, you’re allowed bigger lunches while your macros remain the same. I really like that Marion stresses that it’s okay (especially now) to have an order of fries or that slice of cheesecake. Obviously, the goal is to remain healthy and continue fueling your body with nutrients it needs. But there’s no shame in some indulgences.

Another thing I’d like to mention is that he goes over (in detail) all of the supplements you might want to use. And in his typical fashion, he explains in detail what they do and why you may benefit from them. You don’t need to add any of them into your diet if you don’t want to, but if you’re looking for some supplements, he has great information towards the end of the book.
One thing you definitely don’t want to miss is his chapter on mindset and doing the inner work. I really wanted to skip past it and get to the meal plans, but his main points kept catching my eye. So I read the whole chapter and am so glad I did. He says:
“Here’s the thing: unless you do the deep work to change who you are, achieving a goal will
be nothing more than a momentary change, instead of the lasting change that you desire. For example, if you focus on losing 20 pounds, you might, but how long will you actually keep those 20 pounds “lost”? Statistics show that less than 6 percent of people continue to keep the weight off.Why does this happen? It happens because the change is outcome based, not identity
based—and once you achieve the outcome of losing 20 pounds, you have no real motivation to continue making healthy choices.”
He encourages you to redefine who you are. To continue to grow as a person and look at yourself in a new light. I absolutely love this.
